Coronado Cays Yacht Club was originated in 1972 by pioneers from the residential community. In September 1973, relocated from donated space in Montego Village into a much larger rental space in Grand Caribe Isle. The yacht club stayed at this location for the next 21 years. General Douglas E. Barnhart began construction to remodel that yacht club clubhouse in September of 1993. Construction took a year and in September the new Clubhouse held a Grand Opening ceremony which was attended by virtually all the Club members.
